How To Encrypt Your Mail

Pgpkeys

1. In order to use PGP encryption you will tell CrypticBox to create a public key-private key pair for you.

If you already have a public key-private key pair then you can simply import the key pair into your CrypticBox email account (using the key import facility in your CrypticBox mail account)

2. You must keep the private key safely with yourself. The public key can be distributed openly to the whole world

2. Note: Once your key-pair has been generated by CrypticBox or CrypticBox has imported your public key; CrypticBox can automatically distribute your public key on keyservers across the world.

3. Now let us suppose that you want to send a PGP encrypted message to Alice. First CrypticBox will get Alice's public key and encrypt the message with her public key. Then you send the message to Alice. Alice decrypts the message with her private key.

Note: Only Alice can read the message since only she has her private key.

Notes:

When you send Alice an encrypted message with CrypticBox, CrypticBox will automatically search the local keyring for Alice's public key and if the key is not found, CrypticBox will search PGP Keyservers across the world for Alice's public key. Key searches are very fast. Once Alice's public key is found, it will be added to your keyring.

When you create your keypair, you can tell CrypticBox to automatically distribute your public key to PGP Keyservers across the world. Otherwise you can keep it private and distribute it only to your selected group. You may also append your public key to email which you send.
