I Opened A New Email Account But Did Not Receive My Password?
Crypticbox instantly creates an email account once payment is received. Once you have finished the payment process,CrypticBox automatically opens a finish page and presents you with your password. I can't log into my account?
You have two or more passwords: one for your control panel and the others for your mail account(s). These passwords are identical until you change either any of them. The password for your email account is changed in the email account (not in your control panel). The password for your control panel is only designed to provide access to your control panel.

How do I confirm that my email account is working?
We constantly monitor the health of our mail servers. However you can try this test. Send an email message to your account from another email account and send an email message from your account to some other account.

I set up an email account but I can't receive any mail?
You probably created an account with a domain that you own. Before mail can be directed to the CrypticBox mail servers you must log into the domain account provided by your Domain Registrar and change the address of the mail server for your domain to: smtp1.biosmail.net

How do I set my password?
The password that you use for access to your email account is different than the password that you use to access your CrypticBox Network Control Panel. Set or change your email password by clicking on the password menu item of your email account. The control panel password is changed in the Manage.

How is my password stored?
For security reasons, CrypticBox does not store your password. A MD5 hash of the password is stored. It is mathematically impossible to recover the password from the hash. In other words, if you lose your password, we cannot assist you.

I lost my password. What do I do?
We cannot recover lost passwords for the reason given above.

How does encrypted email work?
You will use public key encryption for encrypted email. This is how it works. CrypticBox generates a private key and a public key that is unique to you. The private key is kept by you. The public key can be safely distributed to anyone. To send encrypted mail to another party, you encrypt the email with this person's public key. Since only this person has his private key, only he can can decrypt the email which was encrypted with his public key. Similarly if someone wants to send an encrypted email to you, he/she encrypts the message with your public key. Since only you hold the private key, only you can decrypt and read it. CrypticBox automatically searches the Internet for public keys. More detailed step by step instructions are provided in your network control panel.

Do both parties need email accounts on CrypticBox to use encryption?
No.

How do I distribute my public key?
It's automatic. When you generate a public and private key pair in Crypticbox, The Crypticbox server propagates your public to Key Servers through the entire Internet. You can instruct CrypticBox not to propagate your public key if you want to distribute it to only a select group by hand or by some other mechanism. You can also attach your public key to your emails.

How do I generate a public key private key pair?
It's very simple; CrypticBox does it automatically for you. There are detailed instructions in your Network Control Panel.

How do I send encrypted email?

Can I send attachments with my mail?

Do you keep any logs?

All incoming and outgoing mail is checked for viruses. All incoming mail is checked for spam content and our servers connect to real time blacklists to determine if the originating IP address is fake or a spam source. Our techniques block over 99% of incoming spam.

Do you use Windows?
You can use all of our services with Windows Computers. All that you need is a web browser (we recommend Firefox). We do not use any Windows software on our servers. We only use Unix. Windows has a very long history of security vulnerabilities. Furthermore, since Windows code is closed source, it cannot be audited. We could not offer you the high degree of privacy and security that you require if you used Windows on our Servers.
